Rhonda's young adulthood, others gravitated to her personality because she's a natural observer, listener, empathizer. Coming from a large family she also developed an appreciation for differences as well as the ability to view a situation from various perspectives. As Rhonda began her college studies, it became readily apparent that she would use what came naturally and incorporate these traits into her professional career. She received her Bachelor in Psychology from Sam Houston State University. She then went on to receive a Baccalaureate in Diversity Studies, as well as her Mental Health Counseling Masters from Capella University while working full time. Throughout her student career, Rhonda was always enamored of Psychodynamic Theory and well as Person Centered. Also, Existential philosophies organically lend themselves well to any counseling regimen wherein an individual is struggling with personal identity development. As she matured into her counseling personality, she has grown primarily in the areas of trauma and now she often incorporates sensory somatic counseling modalities. Rhonda likes to be able to offer her clients psychoeducation on how the brain and body develop and subsequently how they conform to, experience, and are affected by various forms of trauma related events. Additionally Cognitive Behavioral and applications of Mindfulness are always salient areas that clients readily adapt to when learning how to navigate change, stress, mood instability, and questions or crises of personal identity. Rhonda enjoys a conversational style and elements of personal exploration with her clients; Yet she know when to be direct. Rhonda encourage a focus on areas wherein one has control and use knowledge of one's strengths and experiences to motivate them towards fulfilling goals, ideals, meaning, and purpose.
